Privacy Policy

In short: Motif does not collect, send or sell any of your data. Everything stays on your computer.
What Motif does not do
- No account, sign-up, email address or password.
- No analytics, tracking, telemetry, crash reporting, advertising or cookies.
- No automatic updates or "phone home" checks. Motif makes no internet connection unless you import a Figma link (below).
- I (the developer) never receive your designs, files, images or any information about you.
What stays on your computer
Motif stores these files only on your own computer, in Motif's app-data folder (Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/Motif, Windows: %APPDATA%\Motif):
- My Assets: the designs you save to your library.
- Figma token: only if you choose "Remember". It is encrypted with your operating system's secure storage (Mac Keychain / Windows DPAPI).
- Recent files and preferences: file locations, small thumbnails, theme and colours.
- Exports: the scripts and pictures sent to After Effects (After Effects reads them from here).
Your saved designs (.motif files) are stored wherever you choose.
Figma import (optional)
If you import a Figma link, Motif connects directly from your computer to Figma (api.figma.com and Figma's image servers) using the personal access token you provide, to download that file. Figma receives the request as it would from any app you authorise. Figma's own privacy policy applies. Motif sends nothing else and nothing to me. Importing a .fig file works entirely offline.
Deleting your data
Choose Help → Reset & Delete My Data… in Motif to delete everything listed above. Uninstalling Motif and deleting its app-data folder does the same. Your own .motif files are never touched.
This website
This website has no analytics, no tracking and no cookies. The site is hosted on Vercel, downloads are served from GitHub and fonts from Google Fonts; those services receive the standard request information your browser sends to any website (such as your IP address) under their own privacy policies.
Children
Motif is a general-purpose design tool and does not knowingly collect any data from anyone, including children.
Changes
If Motif ever starts collecting any data, this policy will be updated before that version is released, and the change will be described on the download page.
